N’Golo Kante was left out of the Chelsea squad to face Burnely due to a hamstring injury.
The Blues midfielder, who played every minute over the hectic Premier League Christmas schedule, suffered the issue in training yesterday.
It’s the latest setback for the Frenchman in a season which has been hampered by various injuries, with the club describing the hamstring issue as a minor problem.
Ross Barkley earns his first Premier League start since October in place of Kante, while star man Mateo Kovacic is named on the bench.
Frank Lampard has backed up his words about wanting Andreas Christensen to stay by starting the Dane in central defence, with Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori on the bench.
