Fulham will meet Brentford in the Championship play-off final as they clung on to beat Cardiff 3-2 on aggregate.

Scott Parker’s side held the advantage going into the second leg having won the first 2-0 but scraped over the line against the Bluebirds at Craven Cottage on Thursday night.

Curtis Nelson headed Cardiff back into the contest just eight minutes into the second leg. He nodded in from a corner after Marek Rodak had tipped over Will Vaulks’ long throw.

But the Bluebirds’ lead on the night lasted less than a minute, as Bobby Decordova-Reid laid on yet another goal for Neeskens Kebano.

Fulham’s near-immediate return to parity on the night put them 3-1 up on aggregate.

The sides were locked at 1-1 on the night at half-time, but Fulham’s 3-1 aggregate lead had them 45 minutes from a Wembley final against west London rivals Brentford.

Half-time substitute Lee Tomlin hooked in from close range to drag Cardiff straight back into the tie after the interval.

Tomlin’s opportunistic finish put the Bluebirds 2-1 ahead on the night, though the visitors still trailed 3-2 on aggregate.
