Adidas have relaunched the iconic 90s ‘bruised banana’ kit as part of a new retro apparel collection.
The Gunners are riding the feel-good factor generated by their 3-1 victory at West Ham – their first under interim boss Freddie Ljungberg – and unveiled the new range with a cool, 90s-inspired video.
Current stars Hector Bellerin, Alexandre Lacazette and David Luiz feature alongside past players Ian Wright, David Seaman and Nigel Winterburn to help model the new gear.
Bakar provides the soundtrack with his single ‘Will you be my yellow?’, while prominent members of the Arsenal Women squad also feature.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright said of the adidas collection: “It’s great to see adidas and Arsenal bringing back some of the iconic designs which were such a big part of my career in the 90’s.
“It is probably something a lot of the fans would have been hoping for once the partnership was announced.
“It made sense for the current away shirt to be inspired by the original bruised banana jersey and likewise to bring the old one back as well for a one off.”
Arsenal teamed up with adidas just over a year and a half ago, ending their partnership with Puma and returning to one of their more popular manufacturers from down the years.
The new range doesn’t come cheap, though, with the ‘bruised banana’ kit priced at a hefty £75.
