Philadelphia tops FC Cincinnati; win 2-0

With their 2-0 win over FC Cincinnati last night, the Philadelphia Union are the new Eastern Conference leaders.

Well– three teams are level on points at the summit of the conference (D.C. United and the Montreal Impact being the other two) but Philly’s superior goal difference is the tiebreaker.

The club picked up their latest win with a 2-0 triumph behind goals from Kacper Przybylko and Fafa Picault being the difference. FC Cincy were a stubborn side to beat, with Spencer Richey enjoying another fine night in goal but eventually were broken down by the Union. Here’s Bobby Warshaw’s take on the high-flying Union.

Already without starter Andre Blake due to injury, the Union finished the match on their third goalkeeper after Matt Freese exited the match with an injury, leaving Carlos Miguel Coronel to keep the shutout.

On the other side, FC Cincy are having trouble scoring goals. The team haven’t found the back of the net in their last 431 minutes.
