Canada dominates Jamaica, win 9-0

Jordy Huitema scored five goals, while Janine Beckie notched a hat trick to earn Canada a 9-0 win versus Jamaica in Group B of the 2020 Concacaf Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship on Saturday at HEB Park in Edinburg, Texas.

With the result, both Canada and Mexico have qualified for the 2020 CWOQ semifinals.

Huitema started off her memorable night by slotting home a deflection in the 10’ for a 1-0 lead.

Beckie whipped in a cross from the right that was met by Deanne Rose to hand Canada a 2-0 lead in the 16’.

In the 44’, Beckie got her first goal by firing into net to give Canada a 3-0 halftime lead.

Beckie added her second in the 51’ when she got behind the Jamaican defense and finished to make it 4-0.

Rose set up Huitema, allowing the latter to head home for a 5-0 lead in the 55’. Huitema got her third in the 62’ with a composed right-footed finish.

Beckie picked up her hat trick in the 66’ when she swept in a right-footed shot, making it 7-0.

Huitema then tacked on her final two goals of the evening in the 81’ and 90+2’, the first a header off a deflection and the second a right-footed shot to round out the final scoreline.
